Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening exercise program that focuses on the strength of your core muscles, helping you to build a strong and balanced body and improve your flexibility. As you progress, you will notice improvements in breathing, focus, stress management, core strength and body awareness.
Mat work is a great choice for everyone from Pilates beginners to advanced participants because the exercises not only build in difficulty, but every exercise can be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge.
Mat Pilates is a type of Pilates class that is done without any special equipment because you only need your own body and some floor space to start. A padded floor mat is used to give yourself added grip on the floor. Using the mat is optional, but they are provided in every class.
Mat Pilates classes are a great option for those new to Pilates and you will learn exercises you can use in your own training sessions; both in the gym and at home.
