Our New Gym is Now Open

We’re excited to tell you about our purpose-built fitness centre that has launched us into a new era of providing health and fitness services for our members.

Since 1990, we have evolved from taking group exercise classes in community halls in Hobart and surrounding suburbs, to become one of Tasmania’s most comprehensive and longest operating fitness centres. We've grown again, not by getting bigger, but by improving our surroundings and giving our members a state-of-the-art exercise facility.

What's the new gym like?

With its centrally located reception area, the gym is spread across three levels, with stairways and a lift giving easy access to all the areas. We have our Platinum Club, free-weights area, cardio theater, circuit room, spin studio and a large room for our group exercise sessions. All the group exercise studios are fully air conditioned and have their own professionally designed sound system.

The new cardio theatre includes all our treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, elliptical trainers and stair climbers, facing both the lively circuit studio and a multi-screen entertainment system that you can tune into using your own personal listening device. The spin studio has been rigged with brand new state-of-the-art bikes that have taken our spin classes to a whole new level.

Our new facility enhances the services we currently provide, including our broad range of group exercise classes, Personal Training services, an exercise physiotherapist and an exercise physiologist.

Where is the new gym?

Our new fitness centre, located at 37-47 Melville Street, is inside the old brewery buildings behind what was the Jolly Hatter’s Inn, which dates back to the 1840’s. The pub was the epicentre for the trade union of the day. Whilst retaining the original facade and highlighting some of the original internal features, the interior will be totally revamped to suit our needs.

We are now conveniently located near the centre of Hobart with greatly improved access. It’s close to the council carpark in Melville Street, and next door to the university public carpark. There’s also lots more street parking around the area.
